Despite the extremely adverse weather conditions, hundreds of enthusiasts participated in the Nature Parks Open Doors Day, which was held by GLOBUL and the international environmental organization WWF on Sunday.
Special guides welcomed the visitors at each park and either took them for a walk following little-known routes or told them more about the protected nature inside the visitor centers.
More than 50 nature lovers visited the Bulgarka Nature Park and examined the area’s typical tree species. Another 20 enthusiasts including Britons and Italians took a few hours walk around the Kladnitsa village on the south side of Vitosha Nature Park. Despite the bad weather, 30 people visited the Sinite Kamuni Nature Park near Sliven and another 25 visitors walked at the Shoumen Plateau Nature Park to reach the less familiar rock-hewn monasteries.
Dozens of students visited the Natura preservation center at the Vrachanski Balkan Nature Park and the visitor centers at Zlatni Pyasatsi and Persina Nature Parks. Indoor, they watched educational movies about the protected nature and took part in quizzes and games.
The Rila Monastery, Belasitsa, Strandzha and Russenski Lom Nature Parks also participated in the initiative.
Today the names of the four winners from the Play for Nature game were announced. The game was held on GLOBUL’s Facebook fan-page to promote the Nature Parks Open Doors Day.
