GLOBUL and GERMANOS introduce mobile phones recycling program

Under the motto, Make Your Old Mobile Useful - Recycle!, GLOBUL and GERMANOS introduce recycling programme for mobile phones and accessories, using all GLOBUL exclusive stores and GERMANOS retail network throughout Bulgaria as collection and recycling points.
The company will install special collection bins in a total 240 GLOBUL and GERMANOS shops and offices countrywide, offering consumers the opportunity to dispose old and unusable mobile devices, batteries and accessories and in that way help in the protection of the environment,. Collection bins have already been installed in GLOBUL and GERMANOS shops in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Burgas and by the end of November 2008 installation will have been completed.
Each collection bin has separate compartments for collection of mobile phones, accessories (including hands-free kits, chargers, data cables, etc.) as well as used batteries.
GLOBUL and its official project partner GERMANOS will be responsible for recycling the collected items in cooperation with a licensed company. The company expects collection of 5 kg of mobile waste per collection point in the first year after the programme’s launch.
GLOBUL advises all users interested in recycling their mobile phone, to remove their SIM card before disposing the device into the collection bin, as well as to delete all personal data that might be saved in the phone’s memory, including contacts, SMSs & MMSs, photos, personal notes or calendar entries.

The recycling initiative is part of the company’s long-term GLOBUL Green strategy, the company’s long term BGN 400,000 environment protection programme. GLOBUL Green is the first such initiative by a Bulgarian telecommunications operator and comprises of a set of measures and initiatives, aiming to minimize the operator’s footprint on the environment, promote reuse and recycling, raise public awareness and support environmental projects.
